I'm defying the obvious!! ALTER⇔EGO EP Buzz begins!

Look for a story on Defy Recordings in Mix magazine's October issue! There's so much to talk about, it's been a very busy couple of weeks. We're seeing a real change in how people are approaching their next projects. Whereas every year or every other year they would record "the album", today's artists are constantly recording and producing songs. Maybe it's all the attention one can get from being a "hit" on YouTube or on iTunes, especially as the old school "record deal" has certainly fallen by the wayside . Either way folks are concentrating on a continuous flow of songs.

One example is Stacie Rose. She's a few albums in to her career, and has grown as an artist by leaps and bounds. As the quality of her songs has increased, so has her inventiveness. Some recent experiments have yielded all kinds of attention, so we're in the midst of traveling down that road a bit further. So far the results have been 'jumping up and down' spectacular-like, so we know we're making the right move. Some new collaborations with Thomas Hutchings, Hawk, Captain Danger, and Quixotic have just been insane.

On the flip side is Jennifer Haase's new cd. It's been an interesting hybrid of a classic approach mixed with a DIY spirit that will surely be repeated for some time. Mix up amazing musicians (and even some legendary ones) with excellent songs and have people that know how to capture the sound the right way, and have your fans contribute to the making of it. The results on every level have exceeded every expectation, so keep an eye on her and be sure to attend the release party at Joe's Pub. It's going to be quite a night!

For you technical folks we're working on the final details of a collective of sorts that addresses the needs of producers, engineers, studios, artists, and labels (of you that are left!). We'll be having a more formal press release in the coming weeks, but we can tell you everyone we mention it to that has ever had a place in the music industry is excited. And the recent partnership we completed with an industry powerhouse has US excited. So it's all good. :)

And last but not least, we had a great time working with Craig Wilson on his first score for "Hereafter", a full length feature film. He made the best use of our film experience to write and perform a score that left the client ecstatic. Well done, Mr. Wilson! Looking forward to the next one.
