STACIE ROSE ROCKS on SHOTGUN DAISY
Veteran NY Songstress releases third full-length disc
MBM Exclusive review by Joe Viglione 8-31-08

Stacie Rose has created a mature and authoritative gem on her third full-length disc augmenting her long-time producer, Robert L. Smith, with co-producer Jeff Allen. There are many stand-out tracks here, "Run Out" has a little nod to Janis Joplin (not in vocal or sound, but in spirit) - very hooky, as is "Mr. & Mrs. Happily Ever After", nice sequencing two as the pair of songs are different but work well together. There's the intriguing "Not Listening", the jazzy and quite moody "December" and "Love Saves" which actually sounds like "Love waves...", a nice little Lady Mondegreen, misheard lyric. You can check out my previous review of Rose's THIS IS MINE CD from 2002 on AllMusic and SHADOW & SPLENDOR. SHOTGUN DAISY is a beautiful component to the triology and points out a good direction for this important artist's future.

Stacie Rose- Shotgun Daisy
It would have been very easy to have tossed this disc aside without a second thought. After all, Stacie Rose creates hummable smooth pop that sounds very similar to thousands of other artists. But instead of throwing this disc to the side we continued spinning it until...the songs eventually had a real impact on us and we realized that we had to cover Shotgun Daisy. True, these songs are very safe and sound very familiar...but in the end the intent behind the music is what makes this album such a pleasing and rewarding spin. Stacie surrounds herself with a multitude of top notch players and she writes songs that could easily be appreciated by the masses. But instead of penning mere fluff, her songs have depth and seem to come from her soul. Add in the fact that this young lady has an absolutely killer voice...and you have a cool, uplifting album that will surely stand the test of time. Smooth pop cuts include "Find Your Way," "Hope," "Wreck At Best," and "Hit Me in the Head." Nice, smooth, hummable stuff... (Rating: 5)

Rave reviews from Rebel Spirit Music & Jersey Beat

Rebel Spirit Music
July 2008

Stacie Rose's eagerly anticipated new album 'Shotgun Daisy' follows up where 2005's 'Shadow & Splendor' left off - packed full of relentlessly catchy hooks and effortless pop-rock tunes. Rose has clearly mastered the art of producing songs of effervescence and 'Shotgun Daisy' is a testament to her indisputable progress over the five years she has been recording material.

Likened to Jewel and Sheryl Crow, Rose's carved out a sound all her own by combining tender, passionate vocals with that great pop sound and polished production work - aided on this record by some of the industry's more respected names. Her experience is noticeable on songs such as 'Find Your Way' and 'Hit Me In The Head' as she begins to explore a deep, soulful direction that showcases a new maturity (To many eyes all around me / Why should I care what the people see / To, much of you walking on me / How did things get so blurred out when there ought to be clarity).

That maturity is evident still further in her song-writing as she is now penning thought-provoking, intelligent lyrics to accompany her work. On 'Hope' she questions our belief in a future of promise and casts aspersions towards our efforts to change (We're all sleeping, the world's eclipsing / Wise men have come and gone but nobody's listening / We point our fingers, judge our friends / Will the here and now mean anything in the end?)

'Shotgun Daisy' sees a marked improvement for Stacie Rose - a songstress that is now beginning to realise her true potential without abandoning her pop roots. -Joel Crane

Jersey Beat
July 2008

Stacie Rose's music has an earthy feel, and makes for easy listening, although her topics ("Mr. & Mrs. Happily Ever After," "Worry Free," "Find Your Way") could easily be headline news. Simple percussion and mid-tempo guitars create musical atmospheres that range from upbeat to slow to mellow, but all the while attention-getting.

Comparisons to Aimee Mann, and her explorative vocal style would make sense. Stacie can throw curves too. From forlorn on "Hope," to brassy and assertive on "Black and Blue," she transcends the traditional singer/songwriter formula, fleshing out an original, fresh style. - Phil Rainone

Jersey Beat - 1st Shotgun Daisy Review!!

http://www.jerseybeat.com/quietcorner.html

The new CD I received from STACIE ROSE is just a 3-song taste of her upcoming CD, "Shotgun Daisy" (Enchanted, c/o stacierose.com), but it's worth noting. It's nothing fans of singer-songwriter Stacie wouldn't be aware of, such as smooth vocals, hook-laden melodies, engaging lyrics, and even the other artists wanting to be involved, such as Shawn Mullins" on "Run Out." All three songs are keepers, and the press certainly tells of things to come, including collaborations with the likes of Steve Conte (New York Dolls) and James Maestro (Bongos, etc.). If a musician is associated by the quality of her musician fans/collaborators, she truly is a musician's musician. More to come.
